What OddConnections Will Mean to Me
There are times in life when an idea is brought to your attention that makes so much sense that you wonder why you hadn’t thought of it yourself. OddConnections is an exact such discovery for me.
I am a person of many different interests, and I find great enjoyment in developing ideas related to these interests and sharing these ideas through discussion. However, I rarely express these ideas through writing, which is an aspect of articulation that not only records ideas but also allows you to better organize, build upon, and refine them over time. As a result, I feel that many of my ideas and memorable discussions have been lost to me or at least watered down in my mind.
My lack of writing can be attributed mainly to a simple lack of motivation, structure, and incentive. This is where OddConnections comes in. OddConnections will provide me with an outlet for these ideas as well as an incentive to write both with a certain frequency and quality. It will also inspire feedback and discussion, which will help me improve my writing and expand upon my ideas.
I plan to write about many different things. At first, my writing will generally originate from the classes that I am taking in school, the books I am reading, the music I am listening to, current events, the Portland Trailblazers, and any other interesting thoughts or discussions that I have had recently. My posts will vary in length and style, but I will always write about things that matter to me and try to ensure that I articulate my thoughts in an understandable and accessible manner.
Aside from building upon my personal thoughts, I am also excited to read and respond to what other people are writing about and use this process to keep in touch. I can’t think of a more enriching or enjoyable way to stay connected with your friends then by this sharing of ideas, as everyone will be able to play an active role in each others intellectual, social, and spiritual development.
I look forward to getting OddConnections up and running, expressing my thoughts, and reading what all of you have to say.
Common and Friends: A magnificent, frustrating experience.
